Victory on the Scrabble Board
What can I say, I’m on a roll. Ok, maybe two victories in a row isn’t quite a roll, but considering I just recently started playing Scrabble, and I regularly play with two English grads, I can’t help but want to pat myself on the back. I usually lose at the damn game, which is one of the more frustrating things I have come to experience (as far as board games are concerned at least). Even more infuriating is that most of the losses come at the hand of my girlfriend. Gameplay has become competitive and cutthroat with many matches getting so ugly that eye contact isn’t made for hours afterwards. But here I sit — on the biggest winning streak I have ever had after rising to victory on the hot-blooded vocabulary power of words like lurid, botany and hexed. I realize that it is fleeting, but I will surely enjoy it while it lasts.

I also went on a bit of a site-tweaking binge this weekend, figuring out how to incorporate archives to the oddities, listening, reading, and watching sections of the site. This wasn’t as easy as I thought it would be, having to setup a new blog for each, since MovableType (the free program under the hood of this site) doesn’t support separate category archives. Luckily, it does support multiple blogs using the same backend files. So, the new blogs publish to some stripped down HTML files and get pulled into the appropriate pages with some simple PHP. On the whole the solution worked out very well, making it easier for me to catalog and maintain everything for ease of use and viewing.
